Located between the AC output of the PV inverter and the user’s distribution panel (or the grid connection point), its primary function is to ensure that the generated solar power is safely, reliably, and compliantly integrated into the public grid.

● Grid Connection Point: Provides a standard, safe, and reliable physical interface for the AC output of the PV inverter to connect with either the user’s distribution system or the public grid.
● On/Off Control: Manual or automatic switching of the entire photovoltaic power generation system’s output circuit is achieved via a circuit breaker or isolating switch.
● Short-circuit and overload protection: The circuit breaker quickly cuts off the circuit in case of a short-circuit fault or overload, safeguarding the downstream inverter cables as well as the upstream grid equipment.
● Islanding Protection: This is the most critical safety feature. When the power grid experiences a fault or undergoes maintenance and loses power, the anti-islanding protection device must reliably detect the grid anomaly and immediately command the circuit breaker to trip, disconnecting the photovoltaic system from the grid. This prevents the PV system from continuing to supply power to the isolated, non-synchronized local grid (island), thereby avoiding risks to the safety of maintenance personnel, protecting user equipment from damage, and preventing potential non-synchronous closing incidents.
● Power Generation Measurement: The electricity generated by the photovoltaic system and fed into the grid—referred to as "grid-connected power"—is accurately measured using a verified and calibrated electric meter. This measurement serves as the legally recognized basis for billing between the power company and the user. Meanwhile, an internal meter is used by the owner for monitoring their own power generation and analyzing system efficiency.
● Operation Monitoring and Data Collection: Through current and voltage measurements, along with communication interfaces, the system continuously monitors key operational parameters of the PV system—such as output current, voltage, power, and energy generation—and uploads this data to the monitoring system, enabling remote surveillance and fault diagnosis.
