Oil-immersed amorphous alloy transformers operate on the same principle as conventional power transformers—they are both oil-filled, sealed units. However, the core material used in these transformers is made from amorphous alloy strips. Amorphous alloys are primarily composed of elements such as iron, nickel, cobalt, silicon, boron, and carbon. They are isotropic soft magnetic materials characterized by low magnetization loss and lack the structural defects that typically impede domain wall movement. Additionally, these alloys feature an exceptionally thin thickness—just 0.027 mm—which results in a reduced filling factor, typically ranging from 0.75 to 0.8. Notably, their resistivity is 3 to 6 times higher than that of silicon steel sheets, while their hardness is about 5 times greater. Our company’s independently developed range of amorphous alloy products delivers a no-load loss reduction of 70% compared to the GB/T 6541 standard. As a result, these transformers stand out as highly energy-efficient distribution transformers, making them ideal for rural power grids and regions with lower utilization rates, such as developing areas.
